February flew by in a blur of celebrations, new routines, and a few challenges along the way. This month was filled with milestones for Theodore.. his birthday, his first time in a 1-on-1 tutoring setup, and a lot of learning, not just for him, but for us as parents too.
The month started on a high note with Theodore’s birthday! He was so happy with the simple celebration, and of course, with his new toy cars. It’s always heartwarming to see him so excited, and it reminded me how these small joys mean so much to our little ones.

The week after his birthday, we finally enrolled him in a 1-on-1 tutoring program at a new learning center. At first, he was reluctant. On his second day, he even cried a little and didn’t want to enter. But over time, he adjusted, and by the end of the month, he seemed more comfortable with his routine.
That said, the last week of February was a bit of a break from tutoring since we had to go out of town. At home, we also took a step back from structured learning since we noticed he was getting overwhelmed. We realized that having learning sessions at the center and additional lessons at home felt too much for him. So for now, we’re allowing him to have mornings at the center as his “learning time” while keeping home as a place where he can freely play and explore.
For next month, we’re looking for a speech pathologist who specializes in Gestalt Language Processing (GLP) in another city. We believe this could be a big help for Theodore’s speech development. At the same time, we’re committing to more outdoor time and less screen time.
Like many parents, screen time has been a challenge for us. When life gets busy, it’s the easiest way to keep kids entertained but we also see how too much of it affects their mood, focus, and interactions. So next month, we’ll be more intentional about reducing gadgets and replacing screen time with outdoor activities and hands-on play.
If you’re also navigating structured learning, therapy, or tutoring for your child, here are a few things I’ve learned this month that might help:
✅ Observe and adjust. If your child is showing signs of frustration or burnout, it’s okay to take a step back. Learning should never feel like a chore.
✅ Create a distinction between learning time and home time. For kids like Theodore, separating these environments helps reduce resistance to structured lessons.
✅ Slow progress is still progress. Some days will feel like a step back, but in the bigger picture, all those little moments add up to growth.
✅ Gadget detox is hard but worth it. Cutting back on screen time isn’t easy, but replacing it with engaging outdoor or hands-on activities helps the transition.
✅ Community helps! If you have other mom friends going through the same journey, talk to them. Support makes a huge difference.
February was a month full of lessons, adjustments, and happy moments. We had so many activities, family bonding time, and even a short battle with sickness (luckily, Theodore recovered quickly). While I haven’t uploaded new materials to my website yet, if you need free learning resources, feel free to drop me an email at hello@littledotsph.com, and I’ll send them to you!
Also, if you’re part of our Facebook group, I’d love for you to invite other moms to join us. Our community has been a little stagnant, and it would be great to welcome new parents who can learn and share their experiences with us.
That’s it for now… excited for what March brings! 💛
