As we step into September, I’ve planned a month full of engaging activities for my little Theodore. With his speech therapy sessions and our commitment to early learning, I wanted to ensure that our days are filled with purposeful play, creativity, and learning. Here’s a glimpse into what we’ve got lined up for the month:
Monday: Math Mondays
Math can be fun! Every Monday, we’ll dive into learning numbers, counting, and playful activities focused on numeracy. From counting toys to simple addition games, Mondays will be all about making math a joyful experience.
Tuesday: Tracing Tuesdays
Tuesday is all about developing Theodore’s fine motor skills. We’re calling it “Tracing Tuesdays,” where he’ll practice his pen skills by tracing lines, numbers, and letters. This will help strengthen his hand control and prepare him for writing in the future.
Wednesday: Busy Book Wednesdays
Wednesdays are reserved for reading and working on our “Busy Book.” We’ve prepared fun activities like fill-in-the-blanks, puzzles, and matching exercises. It’s a great way to combine literacy with interactive learning, making sure that midweek is both educational and enjoyable.
Thursday: Arts and Coloring Thursdays
On Thursdays, we’ll let Theodore’s creativity shine! We’ll be exploring different colors, practicing identification, and using crayons, paints, and other materials to color various objects. This is a great way to enhance his understanding of colors while having fun with art.
Friday & Saturday: Therapy Days
Fridays and Saturdays are dedicated to Theodore’s therapy sessions. These are important for his speech development, and we’ll continue to support his progress with at-home practices during these days as well.
Sunday: Church and Relaxation
Sundays are our special day for church and relaxation. It’s a time to unwind, reflect, and enjoy some fun, stress-free activities as a family. We believe in balancing structured learning with moments of rest and joy.
For those of you interested in organizing your child’s activities, I’ve created a daily schedule and checklist guide that you can find on our Resources Page. I’ve also uploaded the activity materials we’ll be using, including flashcards and other resources, so feel free to download a copy for your toddler!
Tips for Moms This September:
- Consistency is Key: Try to stick to your daily schedule as much as possible. Consistency helps children understand what to expect, making learning smoother and more effective.
- Incorporate Learning into Daily Activities: Even outside of structured learning times, look for opportunities to teach—like counting steps when going upstairs or identifying colors during playtime.
- Make It Fun: Learning should be enjoyable! Mix in games, songs, and activities that your child loves to keep them engaged.
- Prepare in Advance: Like I’ve done, having all your materials ready at the start of the month can save you time and make daily activities easier to manage.
- Be Flexible: If something isn’t working, don’t be afraid to switch it up. Every child learns differently, and it’s okay to adapt your plans to fit your child’s needs.
We’re excited about this month and hope to stick to our schedule. I’m optimistic that Theodore will consistently learn and grow from these daily activities. If you’re following along or planning your own schedule, I’d love to hear about your experiences and any tips you have!
Here’s to a September full of learning, growth, and fun!
