As we say goodbye to October, I wanted to reflect on our month and share what we focused on with Theodore. This month was a bit challenging, as he caught a few bugs and missed some therapy sessions due to frequent coughs, colds, and even a fever. The rainy weather and a typhoon kept us mostly indoors, so we had to adjust our activities accordingly. Despite the setbacks, we managed to keep the learning going, especially with tracing practice, fun pumpkin crafts, and a bit of Halloween creativity!
Tracing Practice All Month Long
One of our main focuses this October was tracing. Theodore’s therapist advised us to work on his tracing skills to help improve his attention span and fine motor control. We incorporated tracing into our daily routine—lines, shapes, letters, and numbers—to keep it fun yet effective. I’m proud of the small improvements he’s made in focusing for short periods, and I’m seeing little signs of progress with each session. Consistency has been key, even if we could only do a few minutes each day.

Pumpkin Art for Halloween We also managed to add a little holiday fun by making pumpkin crafts! 🎃 Theodore loved decorating and coloring his pumpkin artwork, and it was a great way for him to explore colors and textures. Even though we missed some outdoor activities due to illness and weather, these pumpkin projects kept him engaged and brought a bit of Halloween magic indoors.
Looking Ahead to November: Pumpkins, Gratitude, and Thanksgiving! With October behind us, I’m excited to dive into our November activities! This month, we’ll shift our focus from Halloween to Thanksgiving, with activities that incorporate pumpkins, gratitude, and a bit of holiday prep.
Here’s what’s planned for the month (continue reading here)
Final Thoughts: Embracing Each Month’s Journey
October reminded us of the importance of flexibility and going at our own pace. Between the illnesses, rainy days, and tracing practice, we found ways to keep things fun and productive. Looking ahead to November, I’m excited to see Theodore experience the joy of Thanksgiving activities and begin to understand what it means to be thankful.
If you’re a parent looking for holiday ideas, I’d love for you to follow along or try out some of these activities with your little one. Let’s make the most of this special time, building memories and learning together.
